Key road game awaits Mustangs at Brock

Feb. 3: Western at Brock, 8 p.m.

LONDON Ont. - The Western men's basketball team will tip-off against the sixth place Brock Badgers on Feb.3 at Bob Davis Gymnasium in St. Catharines, Ont.

The last meeting between the two teams was on Jan.16 where Brock defeated the Mustangs by a score of 85-80. As the men enter the last six games of the regular season, Western currently sits fourth in the OUA West division two points behind McMaster.

To breakdown the playoff picture, if playoffs were to start today, Western would hold home court advantage for one divisional quarter-final, being fourth in the division (third and fourth place receive a home game in the playoffs with fourth hosting fifth, third hosting sixth). If the Mustangs were to move into first or second place, they would receive a bye in the first round of playoff games to the divisional semifinals.

After coming off back-to-back wins on Jan. 27 against Waterloo and Jan. 30 against Wilfrid Laurier, the Mustangs will face Brock which is coming off a one-point win over Guelph this past Saturday and will be looking for another win over the Mustangs.

The play of Ryan Barbeau (Belleville, Ont.) and Andy Wedemire (Sarnia, Ont.) has been strong as of late both leading the team to a win over Laurier on Jan 30. 78-70. Wedemire netted 24 points for the Mustangs while Barbeau and Garrett Olexiuk (Burlington, Ont.) both contributed 15 points each.

Wedemire leads his team in points with 302, and sits in sixth place in the OUA scoring race.

The Mustangs will return home to face Guelph on Feb. 6 at Alumni Hall at 3 p.m. Wear purple and get in for free. Tickets can be purchased at the door or at www.westernmustangs.ca . Students can get in free with their student ID.
