HAMILTON, Ont. – Jen Cotten (Barrie, Ont.) was named as the most valuable female performer at last weekend's Ontario University Athletics (OUA) track and field championships, hosted by York Feb. 26-27 
 
Cotten earned gold in the pentathlon with a score of 3,718 as well as the long jump with a distance of 5.85 metres. The fifth-year student-athlete was also the anchor of Western’s gold medal winning 4x400m relay team. Cotten earned silver in the 60m hurdles, was fifth in the 600m with a time of 1:34.21 and fifth with a high jump of 1.61 metres. Her pentathlon and long jump ranks her No. 1 in Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS). Cotten is awarded the Dr. Wendy Jerome Trophy.
