This top recruit was one of the most highly rated prospects in the country. When he decided to come to Western it was music to the ears of the coaching staff. He has the speed, power and explosiveness to excel in the backfield; he has the versatility to play anywhere on the field. Most importantly he has the desire and work ethic to be the best.

This Cambridge, Ont. product will terrify OUA defenses for years to come. As well as being a top-notch athlete, he will be a force in the classroom. Varga is entering the biomedical program with the hope of being an eye surgeon once his playing days are over.

At 17, he also has a laundry list of goals already set. Even though he was highly recruited, he remains grounded in his approach regarding the season. “I just want to take things one step at a time. I know a lot of people expect a high level of performance from me right out of the gate and this includes myself. The bottom line is that I want to go into camp, work hard and contribute in the most beneficial way to our team.”

Varga revels at the chance to compete in what he calls “one of the best backfields in the country.” He noted the talented backfield combined with the Mustangs winning tradition as well as its American mentality were contributing factors in his decision to come to Western: “Being able to play the sport I love and go to school at a great institution in a great community made it the place I want to be.”

Despite being a rookie, Varga will aim to provide leadership to fellow classmen. He left this for fans to salivate over, “I promise the fans a back with a motor that never stops.” What more could Western Mustangs football fans ask for?
