LONDON, Ont. – In what was arguably an upset, the Western Mustangs women’s volleyball team (7-7) was defeated in three straight sets by the Windsor Lancers (3-7) Friday night at Alumni Hall.
Set scores were 22-25, 21-25 and 21-25.

Laura Lytwynec, in her first start at home for the Mustangs, did not disappoint. Offensively, she had two key kills in the set alongside three digs and a block assist. Western led for most of the set but Windsor came out on the winning end of two long rallies, tying up the set at 16, and did not relinquish the lead for the remainder of the set.
Western went up 4-0 right off the bat in the second on serves from
Cloe Behrman and held the lead for the first half. Windsor clawed back from a 6-2 deficit and tied the game at ten.
Serena Smith came in late in the set helping the Mustangs close the gap on the Lancers’ 21-14 lead. With a final set score of 25-21, the Lancers went up two sets.
The Mustangs fought hard in the third set, but in the end the Lancers were the better team winning 25-21.
Kendre Jefferson led the Mustangs with 10 points (9 kills, 2 digs, 1 solo block).
Kaila Seguin had 20 points on the night (17 kills, 3 digs, 2 solo blocks) for the Lancers.
