The Mustangs (8-12-0) enter the weekend tied for ninth place in the 11-team OUA, but just four points out of sixth spot in the competitive conference. The Western women have struggled in the new year, posting a 1-4 record. Their lone win in 2012 came their last time out when they beat the sixth-place Waterloo Warriors
3-2 in overtime last Sunday (Jan. 22) in Waterloo. That game marked a milestone for veteran forward
Lindsay Gidomski, who played in her 100th game as a Mustang.
UOIT also comes into the weekend with a record of 8-12-0. The Ridgebacks, like the Mustangs, are 4-6 over their last 10, and are coming off a win -- 2-1 over the Guelph Gryphons last Friday (Jan. 20). All signs point to a close game Friday night, as the nubers don't get much closer than between these two teams. The Mustangs have scored 51 times this season and have allowed 61 against, while the Ridgebacks have scored 47 and allowed 67. In their previous meeting this season, UOIT claimed a 5-3 win at home back on Oct. 22. Jill Morillo had four goals and an assist in that contest, and she enters Friday's game as the leading scorer for the Ridgebacks with 14 goals and nine assists for 23 points (tied for fourth in the OUA). Western's top scorer,
Katie Dillon, is just one point behind at 22.

Eight of their last 10 games have been decided by one goal, and they are 4-3-3 during that span. In their previous meeting this season, the Gaels came away with a 4-2 win over the Mustangs in Kingston back on Oct. 21. Morgan McHaffie has been involved in nearly half of the 67 Queen's goals this season, as the winger has an OUA-leading 33 points on the year.
