The Mustangs (10-12-0) enter the weekend back in the playoff hunt, currently tied with Waterloo for the eighth and final playoff spot. Following a four-game losing streak, the Western women have brought themselves back into postseason contention by rolling off three wins in a row, including a pair at home last weekend -- a
6-4 win over UOIT on Friday night (Jan. 28), and a
2-1 victory over Queen's on Saturday (Jan. 28). Saturday's game against Ryerson may well be a must-win for the Mustangs if they hope to eventually clinch a playoff spot. The Rams have struggled all season, posting a 1-20-1 record overall. They are winless over their last 19 contests, and 1-10-0 on the road this season.
Stacey Scott and
Katie Dillon both enter the weekend in the top 10 in OUA scoring at 25 and 24 points, respectively. Brenley Jorgensen comes in as Ryerson's top scorer with 16 points. The Mustangs are 2-0 against the Rams this season, winning 4-1 on the road back on Oct. 28, and
7-2 at Thompson Arena on Nov. 26.

Toronto enters the weekend in a three-way tie for third place in the OUA standings. The Varsity Blues have won six out of their last 10, and are 5-3 in the new year. In their most recent outing, the Blues beat the Brock Badgers 4-3 on the road last Saturday (Jan. 28). The Mustangs are 1-1 in the two previous meetings between these these teams this year. Western beat Toronto 2-1 on the road back on Oct. 29, and
lost 4-3 to the Blues on Nov. 27 at Thompson Arena. For a third-place team, Toronto doesn't score much. In fact, their 55 goals this season rank ninth in the OUA and are four fewer than the Mustangs have scored on the year. Seven of their 12 wins this season have come by one goal. Kyla Thurston leads Blues scorers with 17 points.
